Waterfront Summer Soiree

When we met Claire and Andy, they really needed help getting the ball rolling with their wedding which was supposed to happen in just six months. They wanted a traditional ceremony in their local Catholic church and a fun, easy going reception that was colorful and festive. Claire really wanted to stay in Old Town Alexandria but with a water view which isn’t easy to come by. We made a call to Indigo Landing restaurant and couldn’t believe our luck, they were available and it was the perfect location for them. Claire and Andy were married at St. Mary’s in Old Town Alexandria on May 26, 2012. Cocktail hour was outside, overlooking the water under a tent decorated with colorful Chinese lanterns and flowers. The restaurant was decorated with pinks, reds and oranges with a hint of blue. The couple enjoyed a duet of chicken and salmon dinner with their guests and then danced the night away! Congrats Claire and Andy!

These clients were fabulous and I greatly enjoyed working with them on their special day! Thank you to Michelle VanTine for these fabulous photos!

A Garden, Colorful Wedding

Cherry Blossom Weddings and Events had the privilege of coordinating another fabulous and colorful Indian Wedding. Married overlooking the outdoor garden of Meadowlark Botanical Gardens. Payal and Mayur said their “I dos” in special Indian fashion. Sticking to tradition, Mayur greeted the bride’s family by a riding a beautiful white horse. After guests took their seats, Mayur and Payal were blest by the priest. After the ceremony, guests were asked to come inside for toasts given by friends and family of the bride and groom, and partake in a lavish Indian buffet. We absolutely love the colors and details that Indian weddings allow. Payal and Mayur took full advantage of the vibrant colors that summer brings, such as reds and purples.  Beautiful custom made fans helped keep guests cool during the June outdoor ceremony. There were also the topiary place-card holders, the sweetest cake toppers, and their “guestbook” where guests asked to “leaf” their thumbprint. The cake table was decorated with fabulous family photos of past weddings. Their Indian culture was present throughout the ceremony and reception, and was beautiful to see how all the pieces came together.

Special thanks to Elizabeth Leibundguth for coordinating this fabulous day! Also thanks to KSD Photography for the beautiful photos!

Rea and Franklin’s Wedding: A Party of a Lifetime

Rea’s vision for her April 2012 wedding at Sequoia in DC was to be a complete “Party in a Box.” And what a party it was! The fabulous band, Sound Nation kept guests on the dance floor all night long. The dancing did not end until their special “sparkler send off,” overlooking the Georgetown Waterfront. From beginning to end, Rea & Franklin’s wedding decor included meaningful touches from their family & friends. Their Quilt Table Guest Book & peanut brittle favors were a nod to Rea’s Grandmother. Custom bridesmaid’s hangers & bags and a special “Mother-of-the-Bride bouquet tribute” noted those close to the couple. Rea & Franklin are wonderful match, complimenting each other in the best ways.
A great thank you to our coordinator, Alex Strawn, for organizing this amazing party. Also, thank you, Allison & Chris Britton Photography for capturing these wonderful memories.

Recent Feature in Washingtonian’s Bride and Groom Blog!

Cherry Blossom Wedding and Events is thrilled to be, yet again, featured in Washingtonian’s Bride and Groom Blog! This guide to the city highlighted Ayan and Nikoletta’s wedding in their Bride and Groom section.  Ayan and Nikoletta’s wedding ceremony and reception were both held at the Four Seasons in Washington, D.C. in March. This wedding was particularly special because it blended Ayan’s Indian culture with Nikoletta’s Greek Orthodox culture. The couple decided to combine their cultures and religions into one beautiful ceremony. What a wonderful, and unique, wedding celebration! Check out our feature here!

Special thanks to Alex Caggiano for coordinating this wedding! Also, thank you to Happy Couple Photography for the wonderful photos!
