Katie & Steve were married on a beautiful Saturday in May in Alexandria, VA. Katie chose a bold blue, with accents of pinks throughout the day for the bridesmaids dresses, bouquets and tablescapes. Tied to her bouquet, a locket from her mother as her “something old” and her shoes “something blue and new!”. Touches of the couples love of baseball and DC shined through – from the baseball cake topper and the metro sign table indicators {a fun touch for out of town guests to see all the local DC “stops”!}. Katie, Steve and their guests spent most of the evening on the dance floor, and the party continued in the early morning hours!

Special thanks to Carmen Wang Photography!

J + L were married on a gorgeous June day with an afternoon ceremony at the beautiful St. Dominic Church in Washington, DC.  The groom wore a black traditional tuxedo and the bride was absolutely stunning with a 1940′s hollywood glam look. The reception was at Potomac View Terrace and guests enjoyed an outdoor cocktail hour on the patio, not having any idea that they were going to have a million dollar view as their backdrop all night. Everyone was amazing at the reception space. The view overlooking the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial and Potomac River were spectacular on this clear night. The guests dined on a miso-balsamic beef and horseradish-crusted halibut and danced the night away under the stars. Thanks to Rodney Bailey for the great photos!
Congratulations to J + L!

Fiore and John wanted their wedding to be a small, intimate affair with close friends and family. After a short ceremony at Epiphany Church, John’s parents hosted the reception at their beautiful Georgetown townhouse. Guests enjoyed traditional Peruvian fare, a nod to Fiore’s roots, and spent the night dancing in the backyard! Enjoy the sneak peak of their special day. A special thanks to Eli Turner Studios for the great photos!

Have a great weekend everyone, enjoy the sunshine!

Kyle & Tim were married on one of the first really cold days of this extremely cold winter this past fall, but they did not let the chilly weather dampen their spirits! The couple chose to marry at the beautiful St. Joseph’s on Capitol Hill followed by dinner and dancing at St. Francis Hall in NE. A great time was had by all, the night was full of toasts, laughing and dancing. It was a pleasure working with Kyle and Tim to bring together their special day, we wish them a lifetime of happiness! A special thanks to Meredith Hanafi for capturing the day for us.

Happy Day of Love!

Our October Bride, Erin, had a big sweet tooth. So much so that there was dessert served at dinner, cake passed around during dancing and a overflowing cookie bar outside the reception sending off guests with wishes of “sweet dreams”. Erin, with help from her and Pramit’s family, baked cookies for weeks leading up to the wedding to serve as the favors from the couple. We were so impressed by the time and love put in from family members to create this special cookie bar for Erin, we have to admit we had never seen so many homemade cookies in our entire lives! Erin and Pramit were married at Hotel Monaco DC and we had a blast working with them. Both the bride and groom, along with their family, were some of the nicest people we have had a chance to work with and a really fun group! After a beautiful dinner and a few heartfelt toasts from family and friends, the entire group spent the remainder of the evening on the dance floor! The theme of the day was green, Erin’s favorite color and appropriate with her Irish background, was seen throughout the day in the programs, bridesmaid’s jewelry and subtle touches throughout the room. It was such a joy working with Erin and Pramit, we wish them a lifetime of happiness! A special thanks to Amy Raab Photography for capturing the day!

We love creating an unforgettable event experience for our corporate clients just as we do for our bride and grooms! This year, we have the pleasure of working with a client for the third time to create their annual holiday party. Each year, we create a holiday theme and during the event, we surprise the guests with something fun. This year, we decided to use candy canes as our inspiration so we kept with red tones accented with white and silver for a clean look. Guests were welcomed with a bow napkin, candy cane and ornament when they sat down at their tables after a welcome cocktail, cranberry kiss mojito! As dinner wrapped up and the company President welcomed the guests, we had some party crashers – the Washington Nationals Presidents. They came running into the room to get the party started – bringing people onto the dance floor, throwing out National’s scarves and joking around with guests. Needless to say, the photos show how excited all the guests were when they realized who was joining the party. We are not sure how we are going to beat this surprise for next years party!!!!

Abby and Gabe wanted to have a truly “DC” wedding that all their guests would enjoy. After a long search, they selected one of the most spectacular wedding venues in the metro area-the National Museum of Women in the Arts. NMWA has such an elegant atmosphere with its amazing art work, gorgeous crystal chandeliers and grand staircases it was the perfect backdrop for Abby’s elegant vision. We incorporated shimmering silver linens, flowers in every shade of purple imaginable and crystal accents to add just the right touch of bling.

Even though everything took place in one venue the museums expanses spaces allowed the couple to utilize separate spaces and create the perfect flow throughout the wedding. The ceremony took place on the first floor, with cocktails on the third floor and the dinner on the mezzanine level. After dinner the guests were invited back to the main hall for dancing, cocktailing and an amazing dessert buffet. It was an honor to work with this wonderful and kind couple. They and their families infused the day with warmth and laughter. Congrats Abby and Gabe!

A special thanks to Michael Connor of Connor Studios for the amazing photos of the day!!

Kaiti & Rob were married on a rainy summer day at the Dumbarton House, but that rain did not slow them down!! Despite the weather, Kaiti, Rob and their guests celebrated like it was a perfect fall day. The couple fell in the love with the Dumbarton House at first look, agreeing that it would make their day warm and welcoming to their guests. They brought their four loves – reading, wine, music and books- together for their friends a family. Bookmark escort cards, wine bottle table numbers, a great band and book décor were incorporated throughout the day. Through warm colors and candles of the table décor, we transformed a rainy day into a warm, intimate setting for dinner and dancing after a heartfelt ceremony in the backyard under the tent. After a beautiful three course meal, the band kicked off and had guests dancing all night. The night ended with a delicious dessert bar, sending everyone home with a sweet treat. Kaiti and Rob were a great couple, we had such a wonderful time working with them. A special thanks to Matt Mendelsohn for the photos of their day!

Georgetown University Alums Kate and Bryan did not give a second thought to the idea of getting married at Dahlgren Chapel on the University’s campus. The couple met during undergrad and starting their marriage on campus was the perfect fit. We loved Kate’s touches on the details, including her bridesmaids’ dresses that were custom designed by a close friend of the brides! After the ceremony, the couple received a surprise – Coach Thompson stopped by with a signed basketball to give to the couple as a wedding gift. Kate and Bryan could barely contain their excitement, as they never miss a Georgetown game! After cocktail hour, guests and bridal party made their way to the Sewall-Belmont House on Capitol Hill to get the party started. Kate had custom burlap table runners that looked perfect when placed on the large farmhouse tables decorated with lanterns, urns and jewel toned flowers. The wine was flowing, the band was playing and guests were ready to kick off their shoes and party. After dinner, every guest practically ran to the dance floor and it never emptied until the end of the night.  Working with Kate and Bryan was an absolute pleasure, they were a great couple and their party was a great time!! A very special thank you to the ladies at Alisandra Photography for these amazing photos!

Favors, what do you think of them? Some brides love the idea of sending their guests off with a little memento of the evening while others think its an unnecessary addition to their special day. We have seen favors of all shapes, sizes and colors but a wedding favorite has always been an edible parting gift. Guests love the opportunity to pick out treats at a dessert bar, grab a to-go bag or have a sweet treat packed in a pretty box to save and indulge later in the evening or while recovering the following morning. An edible favor can fit into the theme of the wedding by using packaging, font and presentation of the favors. There are so many options when it comes to packaging – tied up with a pretty bow, a hand written label with the couples name or a beautiful box. It is always a great way to share the couples favorite treat or drink with their wedding guests. Along with a cute favor, a couple can use it as an opportunity to thank their guests by attached a note. Take a look at these tasty favors, what do you think – are edible favors fun or unnecessary?

After 8 years of dating, Angela and Rob exchanged vows on a warm September day at the Corocoran Gallery of Art. Angela spent a relaxing morning with her bridesmaids at the W Hotel while Rob cheered on his favorite team, Clemson, with his groomsmen! The couple chose to marry on the stairs of the Gallery, with all of their family and friends watching from below, followed by cocktails and photo booth fun upstairs on the bridge. Following cocktails, guests were invited back downstairs to the atrium where the space was transformed from ceremony to dinner and dancing ready! After dinner and a quick dress change for Angela, everyone made their way to the dance floor and dance the night away with the newlyweds! We are so happy we were able to work with Angela and Rob to create their wedding day! Thank you to Spence Photographics for capturing Angela & Rob’s special day for us!

At your next event, spice it up and leave the boring food stations and buffets behind for something fun – mini bites and drink pairings! These pairings can fit the theme of the event or you can mix it up with multiple food and drink types. Pairings cannot only educate your guests on matching flavors of food and drinks but also allow them to try the full assortment of food at the event. Make sure you select a pair that compliments each other – vodka and caviar, tacos and tequila or beer and cheeseburgers, just to name a few! Mini bites and sips can help bring life  and fun to your theme without over stuffing your guests with large plates or heavy drinks! Here are a few of our favorites – what are yours?

On August 3, Sunlen and Alexis said their “I Dos” in the picturesque park setting of Rose Park in front of a 140 friends and family. The location of their ceremony has special meaning for this couple — Rose Park is where the couple first met 7 years ago and where Alexis proposed to Sunlen. As luck had it they were also able to arrange for their wedding to take place exactly 7 years to the day from when the met!

The reception took place at the Anderson House, a perfect setting for an iconic DC wedding. The reception was presented with a ‘park theme’ which was emblematic of Sunlen’s engagement to Alexis. Sunlen’s father built a beautiful park diorama with complete with benches and miniature lampposts. The simple but elegant centerpieces were accented with a park bench for each table. Bistro lights glowed in the trees and candles which were placed all over the yard, twinkled like fireflies on a warm summer night. The garden sparkled with lush greenery and vibrant colors, it could not have looked more beautiful. Thank you to Ken Pak Photography for the fabulous photos of the day.

Eunice and Clarence have to be two of the nicest clients we have ever been given the chance to work with, from the moment we met with them, we knew they would be a joy to work with. The couple chose Morais Vineyard in Bealeton, Virginia for their June Wedding and received a very hot, but beautiful day for their outdoor ceremony. Eunice chose a soft palette of yellows and purples to accent her wedding day- these colors were present in her floral arrangements, ceremony decor and finishing touches of the day. As guests arrived to the Italian-inspired vineyard, they were treated to ice cold lemonade and paper umbrellas to help combat the warm June sun. Eunice and Clarence exchanged vows under the vineyard’s waterside pergola surrounded by their closest family and friends. After the ceremony, while the bridal party traveled the grounds for photos, the guests enjoyed cocktail hour in the tasting room. The party kicked off with the guests joining the bridal party for dinner, dancing and games. We looked around after dinner and realized that every guest was out on the dance floor, young and old, and realized that is the sign of a great wedding! Erin and Rayth wanted a fun wedding with great food and dancing. And that they did! After being picked up in separate limos from the gorgeous Fairfax Hotel, their day began with a first look and pictures at the Jefferson Memorial. The bridesmaids’ bright blue dresses were the perfect pop of color in front of the white and green backdrop. A beautiful ceremony led by their mutual friend followed with touching moments such as a song written and played by the bride’s father on the piano to his daughter. Their cocktail hour flowed through all the stately rooms at The Washington Club as guests sipped on “His & Hers” speciality cocktails. Pops of vibrant blue continued into their Reception area on their table linens, wedding cake and flip flop baskets. Once the dance floor opened, it was packed all night long minus guests sneaking away to grab delicious treats from the dessert buffet.  All of the guests had a wonderful night and managed to get DJ, Jaime Easson to play 2 or 3 encores to keep the party rolling. Erin & Rayth are a wonderful couple and were a blast to work with. We wish them the best in their new married life. A special thank you to Kate Drew Miller Photography for these beautiful shots!

Wouldn’t it be nice to host an event for your employees or clients in a far away land? Europe or Asia? We all know that an event that would involve travel would far exceed the budget of most events but we have a solution – bring the far away land to your guests!! With the help of décor, lighting and a great menu, you can take your guests to far off cities without leaving your city limits. You can select one city or have your guests travel around the world throughout the event. It is easy to create scaled replicas of famous landmarks, cityscapes and other iconic parts of a distant city or place with the help of a great décor company and lighting. Here are a few photos of some great venue transformations to represent cities near and far.

We love Indian Weddings. There is something magical about the vibrant colors, ornate details and the long standing traditions that come with their special day. Henna on the bride’s hands, ceremony traditions that have not changed over the years and beautiful clothing are just a few of the reasons why we love working on an Indian Weddings so much. There are so many details to soak in, it is hard not to spend the entire wedding in awe of the beauty.

Here are some photos from past clients. We loved working with each couple to bring to life their traditions and making it unique to their

Networking events can combine business and fun – this association event proved it! A local association planned an event with unique additions for their guests to enjoy and it was a fun night for all.  After enjoying some food and drink, the guests were invited to visit the hair and make up station before getting their head shots taken. The guests, especially the women, enjoyed the pampering before updating their head shot. In the spirit of fun, the guests also had the opportunity to step in front of the green screen to get their photo taken in front of popular DC buildings or local celebrities. Each guest took up their updated head shot for professional use and a fun photo to remember the evening. A custom chopped salad station allowed guests to create a delicious salad before enjoying handmade ice cream for dessert. A special thanks to Image Link Photography for capturing the evening.
