Waterfront Summer Soiree

When we met Claire and Andy, they really needed help getting the ball rolling with their wedding which was supposed to happen in just six months. They wanted a traditional ceremony in their local Catholic church and a fun, easy going reception that was colorful and festive. Claire really wanted to stay in Old Town Alexandria but with a water view which isn’t easy to come by. We made a call to Indigo Landing restaurant and couldn’t believe our luck, they were available and it was the perfect location for them. Claire and Andy were married at St. Mary’s in Old Town Alexandria on May 26, 2012. Cocktail hour was outside, overlooking the water under a tent decorated with colorful Chinese lanterns and flowers. The restaurant was decorated with pinks, reds and oranges with a hint of blue. The couple enjoyed a duet of chicken and salmon dinner with their guests and then danced the night away! Congrats Claire and Andy!

These clients were fabulous and I greatly enjoyed working with them on their special day! Thank you to Michelle VanTine for these fabulous photos!

A Celebration Full of Tradition and Culture

An Indian wedding celebration is filled with tradition and robust colors. Jaya & Viyas’s multi-day affair at the Mandarin Oriental this April was no exception. On Friday, the first of the two wedding ceremonies honored the Groom’s South Indian heritage. It was hard to believe that this extravagant ceremony was just the beginning to an amazing weekend.

Saturday was the main event. In classic manner, Viyas arrived on horseback and was greeted by the Jaya’s family at the hotel entrance signifying joining of their two families.  The Dhol player led the groom’s procession into the garden.  The weather was perfect and the gold covered mundap shimmered in the sunlight. The traditional ceremony was filled with love and laughter as the families blessed this amazing couple.

A special thanks to our coordinator Elizabeth Leibundguth for executing this special day. Also, a special thanks to Eli Turner Studios for the photos!

An Elegant Evening at DAR

Jan & Rock were married on a beautiful day in August at Western Presbyterian Church in Washington DC. The guests were transported to the beautiful Daughters of the American Revolution for the reception. The cocktail hour was healed in the foyer while the guests listened to live music. The ballroom looked stunning with chocolate colored lines and tall orchid sprays on the tables which complimented the already elegant room. After dinner, guests danced and mingled on the portico and took photos with the Washington Monument as the back drop. Thanks to Tom and Ashlee of Documentary Associates for these beautiful photos and congrats to Jan & Rock!

Robert & Mark – A Gentleman’s Urban Evening

Robert and Mark were married on August 21 in the outdoor space of the Longview Art Gallery in DC. They got ready in their matching summer suits at home, which is just a few blocks away. The ceremony was, as most would expect, somewhat untraditional as the grooms walked down the aisle together with their dog Cooper. Being that this was two gentlemen getting married, we really wanted the look and feel to be different. Elegant, modern and visually stimulating. For the reception, we decided to use square and rectangle tables and masculine colors…..chocolate brown and elegant silvery blue. The tables were decorated with white square plates, matching menu card and a single fiddlehead fern at each place setting. White flowers, lots of candles and blue up-lights softened the room while making it look modern.  Even though the room looked fabulous, the key element to the day was the obvious unwavering love and support that everyone has for Robert and Mark. The room was filled with love, love, love and non-stop celebrating. I am proud and feel very lucky to have been part of their day and wish them again, congratulations!!

A big thanks to Moshe Zusman for these amazing photos!

Roshan & Ale – How Sweet It Is

Roshan and Ale have been one of the best couples I have worked with yet. Not only are they the nicest people, but they are so in love and have a general love of life. Both are always smiling and it is a joy to be around them. I was thrilled to hear her colors were fuchsia and bright orange which fits perfectly with their theme of ‘Love is Sweet’.  Ale wanted a venue that was nothing less then amazing. We ended up at the Andrew Mellon Auditorium for their reception and the festive tones added to the celebration. To back up a bit, they were married at St. Stephen Martyr on Pennsylvania Ave which is a hidden gem of a church. All the ladies’ bouquets had some sweets incorporated in and the bright colors looked fabulous. For the main event, the bride walked down the aisle with her father as the Steele Drums played ‘Ave Maria’.  Back at the reception, the guests dined on a mix of traditional Columbian and Trinidadian appetizers with an American dinner. Once dancing started, it didn’t stop. Guests took short breaks to sit in the lounge or grab another drink at the hot pink glowing bar.

Congratulations Roshan and Ale!!!

Thank you so much to Procopio Photography for these AMAZING photos !
