A Wedding at Home: The Reception

Part 2! On the highest point of Stone Towers Winery’s vast landscape sat the grandiose white-poled tent for dinner and dancing. The tent sparkled with mini-lights and white Chinese lanterns. Square and rectangle farm tables were set with stunning orange, yellow and red floral centerpieces. Lemons and limes accented each of the different table arrangements which were created by Amaryllis. Lauren & Rick danced the night away with their guests and the fabulous “Winn Brothers Band.” As thesun set, lanterns and mini-lights lit up the large Oak Tree next to the tent. Lauren, Rick and their entire families were such a pleasure to work with! We look forward to more Stone Tower Winery weddings in the near future. Carolina & James – News Worthy Wedding at the Newseum

Carolina and James tied the knot on July 10^th at the Newseum. Luck was with the couple as the dark skies opened up and the heat wave came to a pause for this beautiful occasion. We could not have had a more perfect backdrop for the ceremony. The couple was married on the balcony of the Newseum with the picturesque Capitol Building behind them. After the ceremony, guests headed down to cocktail hour where they picked up their escort cards surrounding an ice sculpture of the Capitol Building! As guests entered the reception room, they were able to grab some candy from the all night candy bar with a 5ft replica of the Washington monument! After a delicious buffet dinner, guests danced the night away to the sounds of Raggs and the All Stars. Thanks to Freed Photography for the photos.

Sara & Matt – National Museum of Women in the Arts

Matt and Sara were married on May 15, 2010 in one of the most beautiful places in Washington, DC. And although the National Cathedral was open to the public, the ceremony was packed with 160 guests making it feel very intimate. The guests went on to the reception at the National Museum of Women in the Arts and the bridal party took advantage of the beautiful weather and went to the Lincoln Monument for more photos. After a fabulous dinner catered by Ridgewells, the guests danced the night away to Retrospect and at the end of the evening, the bride and groom left in a classic Rolls Royce. Roshan & Ale – How Sweet It Is

Roshan and Ale have been one of the best couples I have worked with yet. Not only are they the nicest people, but they are so in love and have a general love of life. Both are always smiling and it is a joy to be around them. I was thrilled to hear her colors were fuchsia and bright orange which fits perfectly with their theme of ‘Love is Sweet’. Ale wanted a venue that was nothing less then amazing. We ended up at the Andrew Mellon Auditorium for their reception and the festive tones added to the celebration. To back up a bit, they were married at St. Stephen Martyr on Pennsylvania Ave which is a hidden gem of a church. All the ladies’ bouquets had some sweets incorporated in and the bright colors looked fabulous. For the main event, the bride walked down the aisle with her father as the Steele Drums played ‘Ave Maria’. Back at the reception, the guests dined on a mix of traditional Columbian and Trinidadian appetizers with an American dinner. Once dancing started, it didn’t stop. Guests took short breaks to sit in the lounge or grab another drink at the hot pink glowing bar.

Brittany & Nick – The Fairmont

Newlyweds Brittany & Nick are also new doctors. Just a few weeks before their nuptials, they both graduated medical school, bought a new house, new car and finally after dating for several years, were ready to get married. The ceremony was at the stunning Holy Trinity Church in Georgetown with an elegant reception at the Fairmont. The bride’s colors of apple green and purple looked fabulous in the ballroom.
