An Elegant Evening at DAR

December 14th, 2010

Jan & Rock were married on a beautiful day in August at Western Presbyterian Church in Washington DC. The guests were transported to the beautiful Daughters of the American Revolution for the reception. The cocktail hour was healed in the foyer while the guests listened to live music. The ballroom looked stunning with chocolate colored lines and tall orchid sprays on the tables which complimented the already elegant room. After dinner, guests danced and mingled on the portico and took photos with the Washington Monument as the back drop. Thanks to Tom and Ashlee of Documentary Associates for these beautiful photos and congrats to Jan & Rock!

A Glamorous Night Club Wedding

November 30th, 2010

Jessica and Nelson had a very precise vision for their wedding – Night Club Glam and they not only achieved their vision, they rocked it! Jessica, who never stops smiling, wanted over-the-top glam with dramatic eyes, lots of diamonds and a birdcage veil with a feather. Nelson kept it cool with wearing chuck tailors and a classic tux. The bride and bridesmaids walked from Hotel Monaco to the ceremony, which took place at St. Mary’s in Old Town Alexandria with the reception following at the Carlyle Club. The night club was perfect for their style. We used pink uplights to highlight the outside columns and to illuminate the inside. The DJ kept the guests dancing an hour after we were supposed to stop and guests took breaks to fill out cards for the Wishing Tree and to nosh on cake and candy. Their colors of hot pink, black and white were consistent throughout. This wedding ended with a sparkler send off as the bride and groom waved good night to their guests.

A huge thanks to Erin J Photography for the amazing photos!

A Classic DC Wedding

November 23rd, 2010

Melinda and Rich were married on a fabulous day in August in downtown DC. The bride and her maids prepped for the day with hair and make-up in a fabulous suite at the W Hotel. As guests were seated for the ceremony at St. Aloysius on Capitol Hill, the bride pulled up with her father in a vintage Rolls Royce. After the full mass, the guests took shuttles to the Ronald Reagan Pavilion room for cocktails, dinner and dancing. Melinda wanted to incorporate yellow with a slight pewter for her reception. The centerpieces were tall curly willow with white orchids and hanging tea lights and the other gave a punch of color with all textures of yellow. Thanks to Genevieve Leiper for these fabulous photos!

A True Fairy Tale Wedding in Ireland

November 18th, 2010

Andrea and Kevin have traveled the world since meeting in college and have lived in Mexico and Germany. Andrea got the traveling bug from her family who took the whole clan to Ireland when Andrea was young. When she saw Dromoland Castle, she declared she would be married there and many years later, we had a wedding. 80 guests (most from the US) traveled to Ireland’s west coast to participate in the wedding festivities. Ireland is stunning and green from the rain, but this presents an issue when planning for an outdoor wedding. We decided to set up an indoor space and outdoor space just in case but Andrea and Kevin were lucky. With the castle as the backdrop, they were married outside and the ceremony was ended with a champagne toast. Guests then moved indoors for cocktail hour where the brides mother played piano. After dinner, the band started playing and guests continued dancing and drinking pinks with the after hours DJ.

A big thank you to Amy Mullarkey for these amazing photos!

A Modern and Fabulous Asian Wedding at the Fairmont

November 16th, 2010

This dynamic duo from New York got married on September 26th at St. Peter’s Catholic Church on Capitol Hill with their reception across town at the Fairmont Hotel.  Stacy’s mother and Chantal from Cherry Blossom Wedding & Events worked together to create a modern Asian theme and Capitol Decor brought it to life with the grand entrance, red uplighting around the columns, funky furniture to fill awkward spaces, and gorgeous flowers, personalized Chinese bridal images and handfolded origami toothpick holders.  Stacy and Nathan are so in love and it was so sweet to see them throughout the day simply look lovingly into each others’ eyes and cherish every moment.  One of the highlights of the evening was when Stacy joined in with the band to sing a special song to Nathan and all of the guests still rocking out past 11.  It was an absolute pleasure working on this wedding with Mrs. Hallick and getting a chance to see Stacy and Nate blissfully wed.  And a special thanks to Bob at the Fairmont and to Eli Turner from Freed Photography for these AMAZING photos.
