A Classic Affair at the St. Regis

Pops of navy, red and champagne accented their classic downtown DC wedding this March at the St. Regis Hotel. Making their celebration a family affair, Desiree & Donnie were married by her Uncle and had their immediate family members toast them with a unique and special “Wine Ceremony.” Throughout the planning process and wedding day, it was evident how much Desiree & Donnie truly love each other and enjoy making each other happy. Before the ceremony, the Groom surprised his Bride with a gorgeous diamond bracelet and sincere note.

Desiree wore sparkling blue wedding shoes and changed from her traditional veil into a birdcage veil with a pop of red for the reception. Their specially made cake topper was a “bobble head” depicting Desiree & Donnie on their wedding day. Guests enjoyed artfully displayed miniature desserts, late night snacks and specialty beverages from the Cordial Bar. The blue up-lit lounge area under the enclosed tent provided a relaxing respite from the dance floor. Cheers to the happy couple, Desiree & Donnie. A special “thank you” to their Photographer, Josh Gooden.

A Modern Spring Tablescape

We wanted to showcase a modern table but we love color and especially with Spring here, we were inspired to do this table scape outside with natural elements. We saw a fabulous modern white rectangle table with silver hardware which we had immediately fallen in love with. We started with that and thought about colors. With the green from the grass, we wanted something that would compliment but also contract and pop against the white. Purple can be done in so many ways…. soft, striking, elegant ….so this is where we went with the color for the table! What do you think? Thanks to Eli Turner for the photos!

Update: Style Me Pretty’s Little Black Book features this on their blog! Check it out!

And we had to include this shot! Jaxon came to the shoot with us but didn’t seem to care much! Awww, good doggie!

We hope you enjoyed our inspiration shoot!

Love with a French Twist

Christel and David were married in March at the amazingly modern Hotel Monaco DC, and they certainly added their own personal touches to the wedding.  After a morning ceremony at the Mormon Temple in Kensington, they had another exchange of vows and ring ceremony in the evening for all their friends and family to witness, before letting loose and dancing the night away.  Christel’s french background was on display with their amazing croquembouche dessert, the traditional French pastry, and two types of Jordan almonds flown in specially.  The bride’s brother also created the most amazing (and heavy!) bouquet made of brooches- it was beautiful and certainly unique.  With a lighting change between the ceremony and the reception, the room looked amazing and all the guests had a great time.   Huge thanks to Jennifer of Ego Media Photography for these stunning photos.  We wish Christel and David all the best, they are an amazing couple and we are so happy for them!

The Perfect City Wedding

I met Shelley and Bill just a bit over a year ago and couldn’t wait to help them out with their wedding. Shelley told me about a venue I had never heard of for a wedding, Sidney Harman Hall so we made an appointment and I loved it (modern, funky, city views), yet one look on Shelley’s face and I knew we didn’t need to look further. We took a look at a few other venues but as I predicted, we booked Sidney Harman Hall, yay! I love weddings with bright colors so when Shelley said she wanted to play on the orange wall with another strong color, purple, I was sold.

Shelley and Bill invited all their guests to a welcoming party at Clyde’s the Friday night before the wedding since most of their guests were from out of town. The next day, Shelley sipped champagne as she was pampered in hair and makeup at the Hotel Monaco DC. The ceremony space was decorated in a romantic, softer look with dramatic lighting to enhance the white backdrop and large arrangements of orchids. If the guests looked to the ceiling, they’d see a funky purple pattern, just a nod to the vibrant décor awaiting them for cocktail hour. Tears were shed (happy ones!), champagne was popped and with two heartfelt “I Do’s!”, guests moved upstairs for cocktail hour, overlooking F St. The rest of the night flowed in perfect synch, the décor popping as the sky darkened. Guests danced the night away, stopping briefly to snack at the dessert bar and on sliders and fries.

Shelley and Bill, it was so much fun working with you, I loved your wedding and wish you nothing but the best! A huge thank you for the amazing photos to Jason & Cicely Procopio at Procopio Photography!

We loved every part of this wedding! More real weddings comign soon!

Wedding Traditions: Bollywood Goes Greek

A bollywood dance, a Father of the Bride in a Greek fisherman’s cap for a dance complete with a game of backgammon or “tavli” and a bottle of ouzo… Nikoletta & Ayan’s want for their wedding day was to truly have their family heritage come through in meaningful ways. Starting with the baraat and a celebratory Indian ceremony, Nikoletta & Ayan looked stunning in their traditional Indian outfits under a brightly colored mundap. The bride changed into a stunning wedding dress and the groom into a tux for the beautiful Greek Orthodox ceremony where the mundap was transformed and covered in olive branches. The Four Seasons’ gorgeous ballroom decorated with three different centerpieces and dramatic up lighting reflected the vibrant atmosphere of guests dancing the night away. The cake, made by the Four Seasons’ amazing pastry chef, was covered in different shades of small sugar hearts and topped with a modern rhinestone topper that summed it all up: LOVE.
